A 2 hr film of the Content Provider Tour is PROBABLY on BBC2 on Saturday 4th August, I think, at 11 pm, not 28th July or July 8th as previously announced.
This is to give the material the best possible chance of being out of date as the political structure of the UK collapses around us.
All four series of Stewart Lee’s Comedy Vehicle will be going live on lucky Friday 13th of July at 10am as a box set on the BBC I-player.
To save you all the bother here’s a series breakdown.
The first series was filmed ten years ago this year. What a different world it was then!
Series 1) (2008) ragbag of unrelated routines of a reasonable quality interrupted with sketches that have been decreed of mixed virtues, with Stew in a suit at execs’ insistence.
Series 2 (2010) and 3) (2013) Routines specifically worked out and written for half hour format with a single film item each week and Stew in a suit jacket.
Series 2 featured a guitar.
Series 4) (2015) The most stylistically extreme routines of the project performed, to an often baffled crowd compromised by BBC liggers and people’s suspicious friends, by Stew in a shirt.
I am supporting Birmingham post-punk Legends The Nightingales doing 15 mins of my 80s material on seven of their autumn tour dates.
