Content Provider

Though the two efforts are not related, Content Provider is both the name of a book collecting a selection of Stew’s newspaper articles, published by Faber & Faber in August 2016, a touring show that debuted in November 2016 and ran until April 2018.

Content Provider (the show) began with extensive work-in-progress sessions at The Stand, Edinburgh during the 2016 Fringe, and openened at London’s Leicester Square Theatre in November that year before touring the UK & Ireland throughout 2017. It continued to tour into 2018 & was recorded by the BBC in Southend-on-Sea’s Palace Theatre in April 2018, before finishing a week later with three nights at London’s Festival Hall.

The BBC broadcast their recording in July 2018 & again the following christmas. It was released on DVD & download in 2019.

It's only possible to like right-on, lefty comedians like Stuart Lee if you're a right-on lefty yourself. In attempting to send up intolerance by being blatantly intolerant and bigoted, Lee falls flat on his face making any genuinely tolerant, left-of-centre, liberals so horrified that they simply could not laugh. In short, if you're a bigoted, socialist worker, civil servant, teacher, social worker or NHS employee then Stuart Lee is the comedian for you. If you actually care about tolerance for all, even those who have different political opinons from you, he's about as funny as the credit crunch."
