March 2017

The satirical news site Newsbiscuit runs a satirical story on me, entitled 'Stewart Lee Will Quit Britain if 'Tumbleweed Tax' Goes Ahead'.
The website is run by the comedy writers John O'Farrell, who co-wrote Mel Smith and Griff Rhys Jones' Head To Heads, and Pete Sinclair, who wrote Jack Dee's Lead Balloon.
The idea of the satire is that a controversial proposal by the Chancellor will levy a charge of £5 every time a comedian wastes an audience’s time by saying something unfunny, and so I will face potential tax bills of millions of pounds.
